The city of Pearland and Pearland ISD are separate entities, and a large share of new residential growth carrying a “Pearland, TX” address is actually zoned to a neighboring district — most often Alvin ISD, and in some sections Fort Bend ISD or Pasadena ISD.
Several well-known, actively marketed communities with Pearland addresses are zoned outside Pearland ISD:

The High Schools
Pearland ISD operates three comprehensive high schools plus one alternative campus. All three comprehensive campuses compete under UIL 6A classification.
Pearland High School The district’s original and largest high school, established in 1938. Home of the Oilers. Pearland High’s softball program has won three Class 6A state championships in program history, most recently the 2023 title — a come-from-behind 4-2 win over Denton Guyer that ended a 13-year drought since the program’s previous title. Pearland High shares Pearland Stadium (“The Rig”) with Dawson High School — a 12,000-seat, FieldTurf facility that hosts both schools’ football programs.

Glenda Dawson High School Opened in 2007 to relieve overcrowding at Pearland High. Home of the Eagles. Unlike some fast-growing Houston-area districts, Pearland ISD is largely built out. That’s a meaningfully different growth profile than a district still opening elementary schools annually.
What this means in practice for relocating families:
- Pearland ISD’s attendance zones are more stable than in rapidly growing districts, since the district isn’t regularly redrawing boundaries to accommodate new campuses.
- Almost all of the new-construction growth carrying a “Pearland” address is happening in neighboring Alvin ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and Pasadena ISD territory, not inside Pearland ISD itself.
- If new construction and Pearland ISD zoning are both non-negotiables, your options are narrower than the “Pearland” real estate market broadly suggests. Confirm zoning before you fall in love with a floor plan.

Advanced Academics Gifted and talented services run kindergarten through 12th grade. Elementary students receive enriched instruction in G/T-clustered classrooms; middle and junior high students take Pearland Advanced Program (PAP) courses; high schoolers have access to AP coursework and AP Capstone alongside PAP.
